This small utility was made to help with the creation of subtitles for various DVD/SVCD authoring tools and utilities, including Spruce DVD Maestro, Daikin Scenarist, I‑Author an>
d submux. Additionally, it can be used with VirtualDub to hard-code subtitles into several video file formats (including AVI), or may be to just preview the generation without actually burning a SVCD/DVD. MaestroSBT takes as input a s cript file made with the popular Sub Station Alpha (http://www.eswat.demon.co.uk/ ) and outputs a s cript file and a series of bitmaps for the parsed subtitles. The s cript file can be created in the following formats: .SON (DVD Maestro), .TXT (I-Author), .SST (Scenarist), .SUB (Philips IMG 2.0) and .SUB (submux). The bitmap files can be generated in several formats, but each authoring tool has its own requirements. In the case of VirtualDub, MaestroSBT integrates to it as a plug-in. In a very rude des cription, this is what MaestroSBT does: You provide: a SSA s cript (a text file with subtitles and their timings). You get: the bitmaps with the subtitles converted from text to graphics, plus a .SON, .SST, .TXT or .SUB file that tells your DVD/SVCD authoring tool how to read the bitmap files and where in the timeline of your movie clip must each bitmap (subtitle) must be placed. >
